Culture Sneaks In

Guangzhou finally has a perfectly beautiful day, and how do I spend it? Admitedly, inside a building. But before you go off on me, I was in a museum! Honestly, I was. I'm sure many of you are having a hard time believing that, as I'm not the most museum friendly person. The Guangdong Museum of Art is located on Ersha Dao, in the middle of the Pearl River. It's one of the newest museums in Guangzhou, and one of the least influenced by the state. It's not to be confused with the Guangzhou Art Museum, which is also supposed to be very good. Maybe I'll visit that one later. I'm sure my parents are thrilled that I actually found and entered a museum in the first place.

A concert hall near the GD Museum of Art.
The conductor.
Guangdong Museum of Art. If you look closely, they removed some words from the side of the building, but didn't clean the dirt.
The paper stuff was all over the first floor, in every room. Sorry if some of the pics are slightly blurry. I didn't use my flash, so I tried to hold the camera extra still. Something I'm not good at.
A take on traditional Chinese landscape paintings.
There was a large amount of photography, too. Most of it was of famous places around the world, and the pictures were all quite large.
Sculptures from little to big.
A bit of propaganda, I think.
The esteemed Mr. Einstein.
Overall, it was an enjoyable time. Like every other place in China, there seemed to be a number of people who were there just for the sake of employing someone. I don't think it's the most enthusing job, either. They all looked like this guy.
Tomorrow I head down to Hong Kong for the week. Another shot at getting an Indian visa. Third time's the charm, right? With a whole week down there, I should get a good shot to see some of the sights, specifically Victoria Peak. I promise I won't spend the whole time in Lan Kwai Fong again.
