The Promised Land

Ticket to NFC Championship Game: $500.
New outerwear to survive -5 temp: $400.
Brett Favre's 2007 salary: $11,000,000.
Seeing the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl: PRICELESS.

DAMN RIGHT IT'S PRICELESS!! CAUSE THEY'RE NOT GOING.

Can you tell I'm still a little upset? Three days later and I still have not been able to bring myself to visit cnnsi.com or espn.com. And I don't think I'll watch the Super Bowl now. I hate the Patriots, but I can't exactly cheer for the Giants now, can I? But did I let the outcome of the game ruin my trip? No Way!

This was my first trip to Lambeau Field, after all. Only 29 years into my fanhood (yes, it began at birth). And the weather was the stuff legends are made of. I was one of 72,470 brave (or foolish) souls to venture out and cheer on my team!

Here's my dad in front of the Lombardi statue. Interesting story: as a kid, my dad grew up in DePere, right outside of Green Bay, and actually attended a game with the Lombardi family!
Here we both are, mostly bundled up. Four or more layers, with pocket heaters in the gloves, boots, and pockets.
Pre-kickoff. Here you can see the five number the Packers have retired in over 75 years of existence. Don Hutson, Tony Canadeo, Bart Starr, Ray Nitschke, and Reggie White.
Who are those two people? The Gander Mountain only had a camo balaclava, so that's what I got, and am I glad I did!!
In addition to the retired jerseys, there is the "Ring of Fame." In actuality, the people listed on the facade are the Packer's Pro Football Hall of Fame members (as opposed to the Packer Hall of Fame).
And finally, a picture from our seats. Section 129, Row 50.
Overall, we had a great time, even if they didn't pull it out. The Pack didn't play very well at all, with only one big play and one sustained drive. It's not like there weren't chances, but it just wasn't our year.

I will forever be haunted by those last words over the PA system: "And the field goal is good..."
