Brewer Game

On Tuesday a bunch of us from work drove down to Milwaukee for a Wednesday meeting. Side benefit? The corporate suite for the Brewers, who just happened to be facing the Twins.

We're glad to have had the suite, mostly because it was nearly 100 degrees out, even at 7:05pm! Not that the suite was super cold, but it does have A/C.

Neither pitcher (Liriano nor Suppan) had a great game. The first three innings took nearly 2 hours, and both pitchers had pitch counts near 100 at that time. In fact, all the action was in the first 2.5 innings.

Of course, no game is complete without some sausage races!

Niagara Falls / Syracuse

Last week Kelsey and I headed to New York (state) for a mini vacation and friend's wedding. The wedding was in Syracuse, but we had never been to Niagara Falls, so to Buffalo we flew! First picture is the falls at night from our hotel room. Unfortunately, we got in so late, we only got two pictures.

Below is again from the Marriott Fallsview.

We did the Journey Under the Falls, which brings you under the falls thru a tunnel, and a couple of viewing windows, to the bottom. It was pretty cool, although for the money, you might as well get the pass for four different sights. We didn't do the Maid of the Mist.

Obligatory video.

After Niagara Falls, we drove out to Syracuse. On Thursday, we did some winery tours, all near the Finger Lakes. There's a number of wineries, and we went to 4 or 5.

An old school wine press. Don't think any of the wineries use this anymore!

The Cayuga Ridge winery. Cayuga Lake was the specific lake we toured. They're mostly along the western shore of the lake.

Grape field. These were Syrah grapes.

The Thirsty Owl! This was a nice winery, very tasty.

On to the actual wedding, here's the wedding party. Kelsey made the dress she's wearing. Slaved over it, even!

And that was about it.

Movie Theme Songs

Stan Bush was never the best singer/songwriter around, but his theme for the original, animated Transformers movie was pure 80s, and I love every minute of it!

His "remake" Sam's Theme for Transformers 2? Ugh.

Duluth

I was in Duluth this week for a SME show, but had a chance on Wednesday to get up to Enger Park, which I had never been to before. The park has a 5 story tower, with an amazing view of the harbor. Despite the fact it was about 45 or 50 in Duluth, the wind at the top of the tower was piercing.A freighter was on it's way out. Probably with a load of grain or iron. That's the Aerial Bridge, now lowered.
Here's a shot of the city of Duluth.
I also got a nice panoramic shot from a slightly lower spot in the park.

Crabapple? Gone!

We finally got rid of the crabapple tree in the backyard. For those unfamiliar, here's a picture. Notice how the tree is perfectly in the middle of the yard, and obviously had never been trimmed by previous owners. So it grew sideways. It doesn't help that it's nearly completely shadowed by the elm. After shot. Northeast Tree did the removal, because I had my power lines running thru the tree. They did a nice job, quick removal and cleanup.
Obviously I didn't want a stump in the backyard, so they removed that too. I believe they made a mistake the first time, because a different stump on the side of the yard had been removed too. So thanks for that! Now we've got a lot more room and a nice big backyard that can actually be used!

Spring!

No update on the Andy Rooneys, as I'm really sucking it up lately. But something good DID happen today...

I got the Porsche out of the garage!! Spring is officially here! It was an easy job this year. Put the battery in, got the oil flowing, and she started up on the first twist of the key. I let it warm up for a few minutes, and took it out for about 40 miles. Needs an oil change and a wash, but that's about it.

More Old Pictures

More super old pictures, going back to 1979. Here's my cousin Matt, my grandpa, and me (in green). I'm 4 weeks older than Matt, big difference when you're 1! No clue who thought those pants were stylish, though.Family picture, circa 1980. Now I know where I got my twiggy arms from. Fortunately I don't have a need for his funky glasses.
Probably two months after Andrew was born. Interesting fact: my parents still have that chair in the basement.
Maybe 1983 here. Table in the background? Still in the basement.
Another family picture, this time circa 1987 or so. I guess the park was really flooded. There was another picture with all the cousins, unfortunately Matt and I were dressed nearly identically.

Old Picture

I have no clue what Chadwick got me for my birthday, but it's probably the best present I ever received, given the look on my face. Even Andrew is excited! I'm sure it was an Atari game, possibly California Games.

Chad, do you remember?
